A Tasty Week Two

Week 2 of the Connect: Engineering program

Week two was a tasty one, with marshmallow structures! To start off the evening, we played a few rounds of “would you rather” to get the group to get to know each other a bit better! We definitely had a lot of interesting questions and responses, which brought lots of laughter to the group.

When it was time to start making the marshmallow structures, each participant was given a plate, air dry clay, toothpicks, a bowl of marshmallows, and some beads. The kids were allowed to make any structure they wanted, but a few suggested challenges to make were houses, igloos, or 3D structures. I recommended that the kids could incorporate the beads onto the toothpicks to add some fun pops of color. To name a few of the creative structures that were made, we had a marshmallow tee-pee, a moose named Elvis, a regular house, and one of the girls even made cat ears. Unsurprisingly, the group ate about half of the marshmallows instead of building with them, but it was all part of the fun, and expected when we’re dealing with such yummy building materials!

We also had some interesting topics of the evening which included everyone’s favourite characters from Stranger Things, Halloween costume ideas, and we all voted on the best treat to receive while trick or treating – a can of pop or Pringles chips.

Overall, the weeks continue to get better and better with this fun group.
