If I had a million dollars

Week 6 of Connect: Nukko Lake

This week was a bit more relaxed, as it was the last week before spring break and some kids were away. We started off the group by talking about our spring break plans. Some of the kids said they are staying home for the break, and some will be travelling to Vancouver and Edmonton to visit family, how fun!

After chatting about spring break, we played the spider web game. For this game, we had a long strand of string, and each person in the group stood in a circle and grabbed an end of the string to form a spider web looking shape. One of the questions we asked the kids during the game was “if you had a million dollars, what would you spend it on?” We had an assortment of fun responses, but one in particular was really sweet! One of the little boys replied saying “I would put half away now because I don’t really need anything. I would also ask my mom what she needs.” How considerate is that for such a young person!

After we played the spider web game, we then did a Lego challenge. We split the kids up into teams of two and had them rebuild a Lego statue that was previously built. The kids were only allowed to see the statue for 30 second intervals, and had one minute in between to build it before they could see it again. This challenge was hard but the kids appeared to enjoy it! We then had a discussion about the challenge while eating a snack.

We then had 10 minutes left so the kids played basketball and ping pong with each other. We had a great time wrapping things up this week before spring break, and we can’t wait to resume after the break is over!
